Artist’s Statement

My paintings are literally and metaphysically layered
By painting you reveal and discover
Inside the landscape, not observing it
A journey or exploration of a developing idea
It must grow organically from the process of painting itself
To marry abstraction with depiction to attain an authentic voice
An artist’s response to landscape and environment
linked to memory and imagination

It’s about the spaces we inhabit
Landscape gives us a connection to everyday human life
and deals with something that lasts forever
